Homework
1. In the banking of curves with an optimum angle, [theta], in order that an object can move in a circular path at that angle without the use of friction there must be a specific velocity. Prove that the tangential speed is v = sqrt (gRtantheta)
2. A 3-kg rock swings in a circle of radius 5m. If its constant speed is 8m/s, what is the centripetal acceleration? What is the tension of the string used? Draw FBD.
3. In the loop-the-loop apparatus, derive the equation of normal force N at the top of the loop in terms of mass of the cart m, radius of the loop R, tangential speed v, and acceleration of gravity g. Draw FBD.
*Shall post picture some other time
